- Limit Outdoor Activities: We strongly advise everyone to limit outdoor activities, particularly strenuous exercises, during this period.
- Stay Indoors: If possible, stay indoors to reduce exposure to the polluted air. Ensure that windows and doors are closed to minimize the influx of outdoor air.
- Use Air Purifiers: Consider using air purifiers in enclosed spaces to help reduce indoor air pollution. Ensure that the purifiers are properly maintained and filters are clean.
- Wear Masks: If you need to go outside, wearing a mask (preferably N95 or equivalent) can provide additional protection against inhaling particulate matter.
- Stay Informed: Keep yourself informed about the current air quality levels by checking local air quality monitoring stations on campus (operated by EEM and IntERlab).

Dear students,
Warm greetings! Welcome to AIT for all new students of January 2026 Intake! Please note that the Student Welfare Unit of the Office of Student Affairs is responsible for all non-academic matters relating to students. In a multinational environment and campus like AIT, the role and function of the Student Welfare Unit is to advise and counsel students on:
1. Student Welfare Matters
Student welfare matters can comprise: gender related matters and the strict no harassment policy on campus; personal counseling; dispute mediation, and any other problem that a student may wish to seek advice on.
2. Code of Conduct at AIT
i. No Harrassment Policy on Campus
Given the unique diversity of the Institute community, AIT must develop special awareness and sensitivity to deter or respond to the problem of sexual harassment.
This is as per Student Handbook, pg. 25, “1.3 Sexual harassment includes unwelcome sexual advances, requests for sexual favors, and other physical, oral or written conduct or visual manifestations of a sexual nature.”
This is to inform explicitly and clearly that any form of harassment, including voyeurism, will not be tolerated.
If any student gets to experience any form of harassment, please report immediately through email report@ait.ac.th. Any student who will be reported harassing someone within the campus will face disciplinary action and details of the misconduct will be noted in the student's record.
ii. Stealing, shoplifting or theft of any kind is a serious criminal offense punishable under Thai law. The ramifications could be significant financial penalties and/or imprisonment.
Strict observance of the laws of Thailand is mandatory for all. All students are strongly reminded to observe proper conduct inside and outside of AIT. Any student who will be reported or caught committing any unlawful action within or outside the campus could also face immediate dismissal from the Institute.
AIT cannot and will not intervene with the appropriate penalties according to the law of Thailand if any case is filed to the Royal Thai Police. Moreover, the Institute is not in any way obliged to provide financial or legal support to the concerned student. Unfortunately, AIT cannot and will not intervene with the legal processes of Thailand, as applicable to any criminal case.
As students of AIT, and ambassadors of your country, you are expected to show moral integrity to uphold the good reputation of the Institute and project a good impression of your country. As short-term guests in your adopted home, we look forward to your compliance of the AIT regulations and laws of Thailand.
iii. Substance Abuse Policy
Please be reminded of the Substance Abuse Policy on campus and be aware of the relevant section in the AIT Student Handbook, which specifies that:
"1. Possessing, taking and/or selling drugs on campus is strictly prohibited under the laws of the host country.
iv. AIT Accommodation Rules
Please also follow AIT Accommodation Rules and respect your neighbors and roommates in your dorms by:
1. NOT making loud noises/partying
2. NOT cooking in non-cooking dorms
3. NOT smoking
4. NOT having pets/cats/dogs and NOT feeding STRAY cats/dogs
5. NOT subletting
6. Keeping your dorms/rooms & other AIT facilities clean and orderly and
7. Inform Security (02-524-6000) if you see any suspicious looking individuals near your dorms for safety and security reasons to have a peaceful and relaxing atmosphere inside the campus. Violators will be dealt with accordingly.
Please also exercise utmost caution and safety in any activity during holiday & exam breaks inside or outside the campus that you will be undertaking.
v. Social Media Usage Awareness
Social media technologies are expanding quickly, and they are popular and simple to use, making them appealing channels for communication. However, a variety of unintended consequences are also a possibility with these tools and platforms.
AIT recognizes the value of social media as a powerful tool for creating and disseminating news and information about the institute. AIT also takes the matter of cyber harassment and cyberbullying seriously and highly cares for each individual's integrity, privacy, and well-being. AIT is an international Institute which is neutral and non-political and embraces multicultural harmony. Therefore, we must all preserve this raison d'etre of the Institute. Host country Thailand has passed its first-ever data protection law, the Personal Data Protection Act (PDPA), which came into effect on 1 June, 2022. Therefore, we need to be even more cognizant. v.a. Misuse of Personal Images and Information
Using another person’s photos, likeness, or personal details without their consent—whether taken from AIT websites, social media, or other sources—is strictly prohibited. Such acts may constitute a violation of Thai law, including data protection and defamation laws, and are considered a breach of AIT’s ethical conduct standards. This includes, but is not limited to, creating fake online profiles (e.g., dating applications, social media accounts), altering or misrepresenting images, or publishing personal information without consent.
AIT takes these matters seriously and views them as a form of harassment and potential criminal offense. Any student found engaging in such behavior will face disciplinary action and, where applicable, will be referred to the proper legal authorities.
All members of the community are reminded to respect others both onsite and online, and to consider the potential impact of their words and actions on another person’s dignity and reputation.
3. Feeling of Academic Inadequacy
In cases where students are not doing well academically (especially students on probation), students are advised to consult very closely with their Advisors and Faculty on how to improve their studies. However, if reasons for poor academic performance are due to various factors outside academic/technical reasons, i.e. traumatic events old or new; adjustments to a new country, food and culture; homesickness, etc., further advice on how to improve performance can be provided by the Student Welfare Unit.

5) Change of Social Security Registered Hospital 2026

Dear AIT Employees,
Social Security (SS) members who wish to change their registered hospital may now submit their request to OHRS. Please ensure all requests are completed no later than 15 March 2026. To facilitate this change, you may either submit a copy of your Thai ID card or passport directly to OHRS. Alternatively, you may apply online at www.sso.go.th. Please be advised that new users must first register an account on the SSO website before they can manage their hospital preferences.
To access Social Security medical benefits, members are required to visit their specifically registered hospital. When seeking treatment, Thai employees should present their Thai ID card, while non-Thai staff are required to present both their passport and Social Security card.
For your convenience, the updated hospital list and a summary of Social Security benefits information are attached for your reference. If you have any questions regarding this process, please contact Khun Parin at parin@ait.asia or by phone at extension 5018.

Yellow Bin Observation Report (January 2026) –give 2 min to read the key Issues - Community Support is mandate
Dear AIT Community (Students, Staff, Faculty, and Residents),
Warm greetings from the Office of Sustainable Campus (OSC).
As part of AIT’s ongoing Waste Management Model implementation, OSC—supported by our student assistants, volunteers, and interns—conducted Yellow Bin Observation-1 (January 2026), which was observed from 12 to 16 Jan 2026 across campus residential zones and academic areas. We are pleased to note that recyclable plastics were visible in most yellow bins, reflecting increasing awareness and participation in the recycling system. However, the attached monitoring report also identified several recurring issues that significantly reduce recyclability, slow down sorting operations, and increase waste handling burdens.
Key Observed Issues (Campus-Wide)
The following problems were repeatedly observed across many locations:
1. Food-contaminated containers and empty drinking cups
This remains the most frequent issue, making recyclable plastics unusable.
2. Black/opaque bags inside yellow bins
Opaque bags prevent visual inspection and delay sorting, reducing recycling efficiency.
3. Mixed waste is placed inside single bags.
This indicates improper segregation habits.
4. Non-recyclable items in yellow bins
Items such as Styrofoam, tissues, and mixed household waste were found in multiple bins.
Specific Area Observations (As per Report)
/ Student Dormitory Areas
- Dorm A–K Area: Styrofoam was observed and black/opaque bags continue to hinder sorting.
- Dorm M–Y Area: Continued issue with black bags; Styrofoam and tissue paper were found; aluminum cans were also noted (must not go into yellow bins).
- Student Village 1–2: Black bags are frequently used; the recommendation is to switch to transparent bags or no bags for easier inspection.
- Student Village 3: Black bags and Styrofoam continued to appear.
/ Faculty & Staff Housing Areas
- Styrofoam was observed and black bags continue to hinder sorting in residential housing areas.
- Hard plastic (non-recyclable) and aluminum cans were also noted in yellow bins.
/ Academic & Other Campus Areas
- Improper disposal included black/opaque bags and hard plastic items in yellow bins.
- Food waste disposal was observed in yellow bins, along with Styrofoam and mixed waste in multiple academic zones.
What We Request from the AIT Community
To ensure the success of this initiative, we kindly request all community members to follow these simple rules:
/ Yellow Bin = Clean Plastic & Recyclable Paper ONLY
x Do NOT put:
- Food waste/leftovers
- Food-contaminated packaging
- Styrofoam
- Tissues/napkins
- Mixed household waste
- Mixed waste packed in one bag
- Black/opaque bags
Important reminder: if plastic containers/cups/bottles are recyclable, they must be empty, rinsed, and dry before disposal.
Moving Forward Together
This initiative can only succeed through shared responsibility. Every correctly sorted item reduces landfill waste, improves recycling outcomes, and supports AIT’s long-term sustainability vision.
OSC sincerely appreciates the community members who are already practicing proper segregation, and we kindly urge others to improve compliance—especially in residential and high-use bin locations.

1) International Training on Climate-Resilient Digital Agriculture with Emerging

Course Overview
This intensive 2-week international training program brings together hands-on practice, field demonstrations, and expert-led workshops to equip participants with essential skills in digital agriculture, precision farming, IoT-based automation, drones, hydroponics, regenerative agriculture, and climate-smart advisory systems.

The Asian Institute of Technology (AIT) is proud to host the International Conference on sUstainable Energy (ICUE 2026) from 28–30 October 2026 in Thailand. Technically co-sponsored by the IEEE Power and Energy Society (IEEE PES), this year’s ICUE edition focuses on the intersection of climate goals, energy security, and digital innovation under the theme “Achieving Energy Security and Climate Goals through Sustainable and Smart Solutions”.
