2) Temporary Ban on Drone Usage Nationwide (30 July – 15 August 2025)
Email from the Director, OFAM on 31 July 2025
Dear AIT Community,
The Office of Facilities and Asset Management (OFAM) would like to inform you that, due to the situation at the Thai-Cambodian border, the Royal Thai Government—through the Civil Aviation Authority of Thailand (CAAT)—has issued an urgent directive prohibiting the operation or launch of all types of unmanned aircraft (drones) across the country from 30 July to 15 August 2025, or until further notice, in the interest of national security and public safety.
This restriction is enacted under the authority of the Aviation Act of 1954 and its amendments. Violations may result in imprisonment of up to one year or a fine not exceeding 40,000 Baht. In addition, military personnel are authorized to destroy any drone deemed a threat to national security.
We therefore request all members of the AIT community to refrain from operating any type of drones during this period. If you notice any drones flying in the campus area, please report them to our Call Center at 02-524-5800, so that we may notify the appropriate Thai authorities.
Thank you for your understanding and cooperation.
